Makerly ("Makerly", "we", "us") is a marketplace-sync app for merchants who run stores on the OpoShop platform. It connects your store to your own Etsy seller account so your products can be listed there, price and stock can be kept in step, and Etsy orders can be brought back into your store to fulfil. This policy explains exactly what data passes through Makerly, why, and what we never touch.
1. What we collect
Your OpoShop store
When you install Makerly from the OpoShop App Store you authorise it via OAuth. We store the resulting access token, your store id and subdomain, and your store name and owner email as supplied by OpoShop. The token is what lets Makerly read your catalogue and create orders on your behalf; it is never shown in the interface and never sent to a third party.
Your Etsy account
You connect your own Etsy seller account in Setup. We store the Etsy access and refresh tokens encrypted at rest, along with your Etsy username, the ship-from location key and the business-policy ids you select. These credentials are used only to create and manage the listings and orders you ask for. They are never displayed back to you, never logged, and never shared. Disconnecting Etsy in Settings deletes them.
Catalogue and listing data
- Which OpoShop product variants you have chosen to list on Etsy, and the Etsy SKU, offer and listing ids they correspond to.
- The title, description, images, price and stock level we read from your OpoShop catalogue in order to build each listing — plus the last price and quantity we sent to Etsy, which is what the safety guards compare against.
- Your per-store settings: markups, safety thresholds, and which sync switches are on.
Etsy order data
For each Etsy order Makerly pulls in, we store the Etsy receipt id, the items and quantities, the order total, and the buyer information Etsy supplies for shipping: the buyer's username, the ship-to name, address and phone. This is the same information you would see in Etsy's own Seller Hub, and it is stored because it is exactly what is needed to create the corresponding order in your store so you can post the parcel.
Etsy does not give apps buyer email addresses unless the app is separately approved for that field, and Makerly deliberately does not request it. Because no real email is supplied, Makerly
generates an obviously synthetic placeholder on the reserved .invalid domain rather
than inventing a plausible-looking address — nothing can ever be emailed to it.
What we never collect
- No card data. Payments on your storefront are handled by OpoShop and its payment providers; Etsy payments are handled entirely by Etsy. Makerly never sees, receives or stores a card number.
- No analytics on your buyers. Our product analytics identify a store by its OpoShop store id only. No buyer name, email, address or order content is ever sent to an analytics provider.
2. How we use it
- To create and maintain your Etsy listings — reading your catalogue, building the listing, and applying the price and stock changes you have enabled.
- To bring Etsy orders into your store — creating the matching OpoShop order, with the buyer's shipping address, so you can fulfil it normally.
- To send tracking back to Etsy — so the buyer is notified and your Etsy seller metrics stay accurate.
- To operate and support the app — error diagnostics and aggregate, non-identifying usage counts.
We do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or use your catalogue or buyer data to train models.
3. Where it goes
Makerly shares data only with the parties needed to do the job you asked for:
- OpoShop — to read your catalogue and create the orders you fulfil.
- Etsy — to create and manage your listings, read your orders, and submit tracking. This is your own Etsy account acting through your own credentials.
- Our hosting and database providers — Fly.io and MongoDB Atlas, who process data on our behalf under their own security commitments.
4. Storage, isolation and retention
Makerly stores data in its own dedicated database. Every record is scoped to a single store, and each store you install on gets its own separate records even when the same OpoShop account owns both — one store can never see another's listings, orders or settings.
Data is retained while the app is installed. Uninstalling stops all syncing immediately. Disconnecting Etsy deletes the stored Etsy credentials. To have your remaining data deleted, email us and we will remove it.
Etsy does not notify apps when a shop closes, so there is nothing automatic to rely on here: if you close your Etsy shop, disconnect Etsy in Makerly (or uninstall the app) and email us, and the remaining records will be removed.
5. Security
All data is transmitted over TLS. Etsy credentials are encrypted at rest with authenticated encryption and are excluded from every API response by construction. Every request is scoped to the authenticated store. Actions with real-world consequences — publishing a listing, creating an order, notifying a buyer — are gated and, in production, additionally require a deliberate go-live switch.
6. Children
Makerly is a business tool and is not directed to children under 13.
7. Changes
We may update this policy; we will revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
